(Note - This is taken from the archives, so although it was published in December 2025, it was actually written for an 8.X release of VCF Operations) Here were going to walk through a fairly straightforward process of deploying a cloud proxy. Honestly, this is almost all wizard based so as I'm writing this I'm thinking to myself that this is probably unnecessary, BUT Cloud Proxies are so important and yet underused!

Cloud Proxies are explicitly called for in the VMware Validated Solutions for many reasons including, but not limited to: resiliency, scalability, DC latency and traffic minimization. You also will need Cloud Proxies for features like telegraf agents and configuration drifts.

Navigate to Administration > Cloud Proxies

Select Add

Pro tip: I normally select data persistence so that if there is a connection failure between the CP and the main Ops analytics cluster, then the CP will still collect data and resync the data upon reconnect.

Navigate to the Broadcom Portal to download the VMware Aria Operations Cloud Appliance - VMware Aria Operations Cloud Proxy

For reference on how to navigate through the Broadcom Portal, check out this blog post!

Deploy the OVF as a template and follow the wizard:

Be sure to copy and paste in the registration key from VCF Operations picture shown above!

Once the CP has been deployed, power it on and then wait a few minutes for it to automatically register with VCF Operations.

Once it is registered, you can start using features such as the telegraf agent or configuration drifts!

Hope this helps!
